B52 cordially invites you to attend the SoA+D Avant-Garde Cinema for emerging Designers:
Free Screening: NAKED WORLD # Wednesday 10th June 2009 # 7.00 pm @ SoA+D Gallery
This documentary follows the celebrated and controversial artist Spencer Tunick on his latest, most ambitious project: a one-year trek to all seven continents to take photographs of naked people, individually and in groups, against various man-made and natural backdrops. Over the course of one year, all seven continents (including Antarctica - BRRRRR!) and nine countries (Canada, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Russia, Australia, Japan, South Africa and Brazil), Tunick and his crew map out an ambitious agenda that says as much about the cultures he encounters as it does about the subjects and landmarks he photographs. The film questions what nakedness means to people in different countries and climates, both geographic and political, and underscores just how volatile the debate about nudity as a legitimate art form can be.

B52 is a non-profit group established by a bunch of SoA+D first year students who are not afraid to open their minds and who love to hear what other people think. What we do is screening alternative Art, Design and Documentary Films and encourage the audience to speak their minds. Thought-provoking, fun and of course critical, the screening session ends with some aftertaste for you to ponder about later. The Organizers as a host, handling questions and observations from the viewers and provides a brief introduction before screening. Freedom of expression is our greatest value and a basic human right. B52 follows strict to the idea of alternative films, saying the programme should not be redundant with commercial cinemas and film rental shops. B52 provides film alternatives and diversity. The aim is not to screen mainstream films for the sake of making it more attractive to general viewers, particularly young students. The current programme comprises award-winning works from around the world. The selected movies are not too abstract and it is not too difficult to follow.
Take care, sunny greetings, see you !
The B52 Organisers: Freshies Aof, Win, Kao & AJ Chris
